Plant types

Small plants do not generally have large water impoundments necessary for peak power production. In most cases, the dam’s sole function is to insure that the water level remains sufficiently constant for water intake.
In consequence, standard small plants are run-of-the-river works. This makes them particularly dependant on the hydrological regime of the river they are situated on. These run-of-the-river plants can be low or high head.
